Just to let you all know of a urban gardening project we're starting in Gorgie-Dalry. We're calling it Family Live Healthy Day hoping to encourage families to start growing their own food even if they don't have access to a garden (though thats a plus) as well as giving them the skills to cook the food they grow. Its a series of classes one on gardening, one on cooking, and one on being active. It's open to nearly everyone in the area and starts on Feb 28th.

They have been running a 6
They have been running a 6 week pilot (1 more week to go) direct solely at families and getting them to garden together and we have seen 19 people attend (our max for one course). Due to that interest and the request for something for adults without children, they are launching an adult class after Easter, 25 April, that is going to be about growing food and also a bit more discussion on the food system and why local food is important. Both classes will be running for 10 weeks on Saturday mornings.
The group is led by the coordinator of the herb garden in Greyfriars graveyard, a project many transitioners are already involved with.
Were trying to find alternative ways of Gardening in the City and equipping people to do that. The new information has been updated at http://stbrides.wordpress.com/2008/12/17/family-live-healthy-day/
