I am looking to set up a small fruit & veg business, selling locally grown produce from allotments and gardens, delivering boxes direct to customer's houses. I will pick up produce from allotments and the price paid to allotment owners will depend on the overall scale of the operation. I am therefore keen to hear from people who would like to express an interest in getting involved. Perhaps you have excess produce and would like to earn some money.

FEDAGA Response
This posting was discussed at the FEDAGA management committee meeting on Tuesday 2nd June. This is the official FEDAGA response and recommendation.
The City of Edinburgh plot holders lease agreement specifically prohibits the sale of produce from allotments. We believe that this is also the case for most or all private allotment sites in Edinburgh. We would strongly recommend that no plot holder takes part in the scheme proposed by the original poster. Doing so would breach your plot holder tenancy agreement and may result in your losing your allotment plot.
We would also request that the original poster does not approach FEDAGA members in the future without researching the legal and legislative implications of his proposal.

Terms of Lease
Dear Keith,
As Council tenants plot holders have to sign a Lease of Missive to the Council; Condition 1 being that their plots are used wholly or mainly for the production of crops for consumption by the plot holder or their family.
I'm not sure that your business proposal meets with the sentiments of that rule!
Speaking for myself my neighbours, friends and work colleagues are happy to receive my excess- my aim every year is to minimise any excess (or freeze it!). I know others donate theirs to St Catherine's Convent or similar, to feed the homeless.
