I am a member of the Community of Interbeing in Edinburgh. We are a Buddhist group who have applied, (as a group), for allotments near the Botanics (Inverleith and Warriston). Looks like we'll have a fair wait! But as we are all novice gardeners it perhaps gives us a chance to learn a bit about what is involved and how best to run a plot. If you know of anyone who would offer instruction (in return for some free labour) or you know of any courses you feel able to recommend then we'd be glad to hear from you.
