Our City, Our Future, Help Us Decide Over the next three years, the City of Edinburgh Council will have to make budget cuts of at least ?90 million. This will be a massive challenge and there will be an impact on services. We need to focus on what matters most ? delivering essential services, whilst continuing to maintain our standards. This isn't going to be easy and there will be tough choices ahead. We need to continue to prioritise what we do and how we do it. This means continuing some services, reducing some and cutting others. It could also mean changing the ways in which some services are delivered and looking at ways of raising additional revenue. We're looking for your views on some of the key budget priorities facing the Council. Your feedback is essential ? it will help influence and shape the budget decisions made by the Council this year and over the next few years. Join in the discussion Over the next few weeks we'll be holding a series of public meetings around the budget issues and priorities facing the Council. At all the meetings you'll have the chance to find out more about the budget pressures facing the Council, answer questions and join in a discussion on some key budget issues. Senior councillors will be attending, along with senior Council officers. It?s your chance to find out more and have your say. All the local meetings begin at 6.30pm and will finish no later than 9pm. The meetings will be held at: * South West - 15 September, St Bride's Community Centre, 10 Orwell Terrace Edinburgh EH11 2DZ West - 22 September Davidson's Mains Parish Church,1 Quality Street, Edinburgh EH4 5BB * South - 23 September, Southside Community Centre, 117 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh EH8 9ER * East - 29 September, Royal High Primary School, 61 Northfield Broadway * North - 5 October, Drylaw Church, Groathill Road North, Edinburgh. This will help shape Council services in the future. With the Council needing to make savings of at least ?90 million over the next three years, some challenging decisions will have to be made. The Council is facing some tough choices. Efficiencies are no longer sufficient to make the savings needed ? a radical re-think of services is needed. Currently, elected members have a raft of cost saving proposals to consider - proposed by officers in all departments. The Administration now wants to listen to people and communities to determine priorities before making decisions. Over the next month there will be six interactive local budget meetings, giving the public the opportunity to discuss some of the key budget priorities with senior councillors and officials. On 15 October a citywide budget summit will take place. Further information can be found in the latest edition of Outlook which will be distributed citywide next week. You can give your views by completing the online survey which will be live from Monday. ************************************************************************ This email and files transmitted with it are confidential and are intended for the sole use of the individual or organisation to whom they are addressed.
