Hi. I am a member of a small school-based children's nursery and we are investigating setting up a pot based orchard in our play area. We would like to plant native species of apples/pears and other fruits such as raspberries and strawberries. We are based close to the bridgend allotments and were hoping to link in with their expertise if possible. Can anyone help with suggestions for trees in the first instance and with practical advice such as container sizes/amounts of compost/tools/etc that we should factor into our plans?
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
What happends if your neighbour plants a tree on the border line and its growing inside your plot also but when you try to ask him to move it all i get is cheek and abuse? Im sick of when i go down and he's there i always get him picking at me, what should i do about this cause its realy putting me off having an allotment.
Thanks .G.

You are probably aware of the withdrawal of the herbicide aminopyralid in July last year after a national outcry about the damage caused by it since the first manifestation on potato crops sprayed with slurry in Scotland in 2007.
Dow Agrochemicals have quietly applied for it to be reinstated and this seems likely to be granted by Govt unless protests from influential groups and individuals can prevent it.
I have put a petition on the No 10 website http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/aminopyralidban/

I have a Green House available for free if anyone would like to dismantle it and take it away.
It has a wooden frame and glass panels - old type construction and very solid.
It goes to the first serious offer to dismantle and pick it up before the 20th MAY 2008.
Does anyone know of a local farmer or stables with manure to sell? Our usual stables, Ravelrig, has become a victim of its own success, and has run out of well-rotted manure! It would be really useful if we could maintain a list of suppliers for each side of Edinburgh.
