I have had a report from a Midmar plotholder of poor growth of raspberries after application of manure; this was sourced locally. The person who organised the order is away at the moment and so I cannot be sure of the supplier.
The question was raised as to whether the poor growth is due to contamination by AMINOPYRALID, which I understand is sometimes applied to pasture to improve the grazing quality (by presumably selectively killing off broad-leaved weeds).
Has anyone else had a similar problem with manure which was supplied in the last 6 months?

Seed Potatoes still available!!!
Due to delivery problems, we had very few varieties of first early seed potatoes at our recent Potato Day event. We have now taken delivery of the following first earlies, which are available for sale:
Accord
Duke of York
Red Duke of York
Pentland Javelin
Rocket
Please note these are NOT organic.
We also have small quantities of some other organic varieties left, including
British Queen
Nicola
Highland Burgundy
Salad Blue
I work for BBC Scotland Outreach and we are trying to set up a filming project to do with growing food where we want to bring together a primary school and an immigrant group who are growing their own vegetables. The project will compliment TV programmes which are being produced by BBC Scotland Learning on the subject of food production, aimed at both primary and secondary pupils.
The new gardening section has a plants category where any registered user of this web site can add new varieties or comment on the ones already added.
This could be a great resource for all plot hodlers and gardeners as there is nothing better than a personal opinion to help deciding what to grow.
If you have any favourite varieties or even ones you would warn against then please post your reviews or comments.
Does anyone know of an event or get-together where people can swap seeds? A co-worker and I have been exchanging some of ours, but we still have too many of some things, and would like to try others!
To get this forum going I'll start. Has anyone planted their potatoes yet?
I'm hoping to get them in as soon as possible, mostly earlies this year in case the blight is back again.
The weather doesn't look great for next week so I'll probably start putting some in next weekend.
