2020 Covid-19 Memories
Calum, Sarah, Euan and Ellen, Restalrig
Our one outing a day for “exercise” on our 18 month old plot became an instant lifeline in lockdown. All five of us - cooped up in a first floor flat the rest of the time - used the plot for what we needed at the time: exercise, space, quiet, a makeshift play park, a serendipitous chat over a hedge, sowing seeds as the most certain available prediction of what the future might bring.
Late March went into sustainability planning overdrive: how to plant up an allotment you may not be allowed to visit, weed or water for the next three months? Thankfully this contingency didn’t materialise and we sat, ahead of the season like never before, waiting for the next weed to grow so we’d have a wee chore to do. Unusual times indeed!
Many thanks!
