2020 Covid-19 Memories

Hetty Wilson, Inverleith Allotments
These are wood engravings (prints from small engraved woodblocks, mostly boxwood) that I have made over the past few years, all inspired by having an allotment. I wanted to make a new one for this, alas events transpired against, maybe next year.

Being able to get outdoors, spending time at the allotment, has been my saviour the past few months, as a carer. The magic of seeds, the amazing diversity of flora and fauna has clarified the importance of nature on health, mind and body. To have short conversations with my lovely neighbours about all sorts of things, from across the plots(!) and in between weeding (!) every now and again, popping my head up to see the fabulous views of the city, and the Pentlands, never fails to inspire a sense of awe and belonging. I always say 'thank you' when leaving my allotment for the day, it salves the soul.
