Karen & Nicholas Shepherd - West Mains Allotments
Picture
This has been our third season of being allotmenteers and lockdown gave us an opportunity not only to have a much-appreciated space away from home, but also to finally get to grips with our plot. During a time when it felt that life was out of our control here was a space where we could be creative, was under our influence and where there would positive outcomes were immediate. Whilst the skies over, and the roads around, were almost silent we enjoyed the sounds of the children playing close by and appreciated the changing season with more time for observation. We started lockdown worried there would be less time to maintain our space, and what transpired was that the whole of West Mains has never looked so lovely and cared for.
